I've never tried the breakfast buns at T&T before. As per my mom's recommendation, I went with the Pineapple Bun. The bun itself is covered in a crusty shell, glazed with butter. The shell itself tastes very buttery, with a hint of sweetness. The dough was very soft, and slightly sweetened. The top was the only good part of the bun, imo! I didn't eat the bottom half. It tasted alright, but I wouldn't eat it again. After having Lido's pineapple buns, nothing can really compare.
|3 Layer Chocolate Butter Cake|
I wasn't a fan of this cake, to be honest, or of Asian cakes in general. Asian desserts just aren't sweet enough for me. I know that they're purposely made to be less sweet, but I guess growing up in Canada, my taste buds have become accustomed to erroneous amounts of sugar haha. My mom says I have a "western sweet tooth" meaning, I only like really sweet desserts, which is true haha!
The texture of this cake was very silky, and the chocolate melted in my mouth. The layer concept was visually appealing, but it didn't really add anything to the cake. But again, it just wasn't sweet enough, it just tasted bland. After trying this cake, I don't think I'll be going back for any of T&T's other cakes.
-Below average bakery items
-Expensive for "supermarket" prices
The Verdict: The bun tasted alright, but the cake was too bland. The bakery items at T&T are definitely more geared toward Asian tastebuds haha.
