Bob Likes Thai Food

Bob Likes Thai Food is an authentic Thai restaurant in Vancouver! I actually meant to visit Suika that day, but spotted Bob Likes Thai Food and abandoned by previous plans haha! I've heard a lot about this place and wanted to try it out! They have a ton of affordable lunch specials for $9, which is a lot cheaper than ordering off their regular menu!
The decor doesn't resemble a thai restaurant at all haha, but I still really like it! We were seated at a comfy booth with a round table in the centre of the restaurant :D

All the desserts sound amazing!! Too bad I was too stuffed (story of my life) so I didn't get to try any :(

 Miang Kam $7
4/5 stars
This was lovely! Miang Kam is actually a traditional snack from Thailand and Laos which consists of peper sarmentosum, chaphlu leaf, roasted coconut shavings, lime, shallot, peanut, ginger, and fresh chilli with  tamarind palm sugar sauce! "Miang Kam" translates to "eating many things in one bite." Even though this is meant to be an appy, since it was sweet, I ate it for dessert haha! This would be perfect to share among friends because everyone can have their own cup!
I could definitely detect each element of the dish. Together, it was the perfect blend of saucy, savoury, sweet, spicy, and tart flavours. If you've never tried this dish, you definitely have to! The chaplu leaves added a nice crisp freshness. The sauce added the perfect amount of tartness but didn't overpower the other flavours. The ginger and lime flavours were really strong, and lingered in my mouth. The coconut shavings added a nice coconuty flavour and was a nice compliment to the other elements of the dish.
Green Curry Chicken (Lunch Menu) $9
 4/5 stars
The green curry chicken came with rice and some crunchy wonton chips & salad on the side! The curry was really thick and creamy with the coconut flavour being very potent. The curry was rather spicy but still had a notable hint of sweetness to it. The crunchy wonton chips had been covered with a sweet chilli sauce and were super crispy but tasted strongly of oil haha.

Pad Thai $9
4/5 stars
This was some really solid pad thai. It was an amazing blend of savoury, sweet and sour flavours. The noodles had been cooked just right, and the wok hey flavour really came through. The shrimps were quite large and really juicy. The bean sprouts added a nice textural contrast to the soft noodles. The portion size was quite large too! It also came with some wonton chips & salad on the side!
